The new STITCHING AND UNSTITCHING infophilosophaaaaaa:
Curated by Jeff Younger, Stephen Lyons and Russell Sholberg, and premiering in September, 2007, the Stitching and Unstitching concert series has brought together the finest in local and international improvisers, composers and artists. With an adventuresome spirit of interdisciplinary exploration and collaboration, the series aims to present fresh and exhilarating concerts while building bridges between and within artistic communities. Past international performers include Manhattan based pianist Jon Ballantyne, Amsterdam based violinist/violist Mary Oliver and drummer Robert Van Hulzen, San Francisco’s Jacob Felix Huele (drums) and Ava Mendoza (guitar), and Seattle flutist/video artist Daniel Hella. Francois Houle, J.P. Carter, Skye Brooks, Tommy Babin, Ron Samworth, Tony Wilson, Torsten Muller and Coat Cooke are but a handful of Vancouver trailblazers who have been featured along with touring Canadian artists and prominent members of Vancouver’s electro-acoustic, noise, country and rock scenes.
The first show of the new series is at The Western Front, Saturday, Nov 15, featuring NOCTURNAL PUDDLE REFLECTIONS, COLLAPSING LUNG and EJACULATION DEATH RATTLE. Doors 7:30, show 8:00. $10 at the door, $8 pre sales, $7 students/WF members.
