RICOCHET is a totally slamming, high-energy tap and contemporary dance show and rock concert rolled into one. Smoke machines, strobe lights, dancers that hang upside down, a 12 foot high metal scaffold I get to run around on with a wireless guitar... We spent a good portion of September and October 2008 taking the show on the road, it was a total blast and we had a fantastic cast and crew. We just finished recording a smoking new rock record for Ruckus' Brock Jellson, that will be released shortly. Excited to keep working with Brock on his new adventures! Read on for the story of how my association with BROCK JELLISON and THE RUCKUS DANCE COMPANY came to be:
I was commissioned by The Ruckus Dance Company to co-write the music for their show "Ricochet", with Ruckus Head Honcho, dancer/coreographer/maniac Brock Jellison. I also produced/played on the recording and was the musical director for the run of performances that took the 2007 Vancouver International Dance Festival by storm. It was a rediculous amount of fun, and you can check out the
RICOCHET VIDEO TRAILER here!
I was also commissioned by Brock as co-writer/musical director for his most intimate show, BLUE, which featured contemporary dance prodigy Amber Funk-Barton. Blue premiered in Oct 2007 to enthusiastic houses, and it was a pleasure to work with Amber and Sasha Kozak. And while were at it, you might as well check out the promo trailer for
77 MINUTES, which was the first Ruckus production that I played in. It garnered rave reviews and set attendance records during the 2006 Vancouver International Dance Festival. Thanks to Brock for his courage and the great times working on these projects!
